We also offer "Grow your own wool" where you can follow a year in a life of a ewe and lamb from birth to first fleece.

GROW YOUR OWN WOOL.

I run a sponsorship to support the winter feed bills of the flock. You can follow a ewe and her new born lamb each year from May to March. You will have regular updates and photos of the flock throughout the year. In the summer you receive your selected ewes fleece washed by hand using a suint soak and made into rovings, along with a full sample of roving from a select not different colours in the flock. Great for hand spinners, hobby crafter, rug makers and felting. As a thank you, a framed photo of the ewe and lamb you are following will be added to your parcel.

Pure Soay Sheep from our Asgard Flock sometimes available for sale. Starter flocks, rams and lambs. We pride ourselves on a good selections of genes and a full range of colours. All are flock are fully registered with the RARE BREED SOCIETY TRUST. We have also crossed a few Soay ewes with Shetland Rams for longer staple and lighter coloured fibre this season. Shetland sheep are another rooing, short tailed breed and descend from Soay type primitive sheep and crossed with various other breeds. This has happened over hundreds of years on the islands of Shetland to become the diverse breed it is today with its many different colors and markings. Some Shetlands still have moulfon markings today like there Soay ancestors. These are great sheep for smallholders, conservation grazing and fibre production. Limited lambs available. Contact us from April to reserve lambs from birth, all lambs weaned between July and September Please contact for details and full breeding.

We only have 1500 registered Soay Sheep left in the UK and I am committed to helping the breed.

Raw fleeces, hand plucked, hand sheared or field gathered rare breed fibre available.
Most fleeces removed using the rooing method, so no cuts in the fibre making it a easy to spin.
Suitable for any hand spinning needs.

All fleeces are washed and carded traditionally using the suint soak method, carding paddles and a hand drum carder.
